Alex graduated with a Diploma of the Worshipful Company of Farriers DipWCF from Myerscough College in 2015 achieving both the Mike Sexington and David Llwelyn awards in both theory and practical examinations.
In 2019 he graduated from University Centre Myerscough with a Diploma in Higher Education in Farriery (Distinction).
Alex then went on to complete the ‘Train the Trainer’ (TTFA) Award and received certification from Farriers Registration Council of Approved Training Farrier (ATF) status.
In 2021, Alex submitted his dissertation documenting the “Morphological changes of thoroughbred feet during a period of 3 month hoof rehabilitation” achieving honours in his Bachelors of Science Degree in Farriery at the University of Lancashire and University Centre Myerscough.
Alex has written articles for magazines, published educational videos to online audiences, lectured at national and international conferences and worked with NGO’s on the development of Farriery training programs in developing countries including the first government back Farriery training facility in west Africa.
Alex pays thanks to his older brother Laurence Ridgeway DipWCF ATF, who dedicated 4 1/2 years to train him through his apprenticeship. He was awarded Approved Training Farrier (ATF) of the Year 2015/2016 from Myerscough College and continues to dedicate his time to train the next generation of farriers.
